Savanna Energy

Savanna Energy Services set out to modernise safety systems with one clear vision: to protect its people and build a safer, more sustainable future for remote operations.

The Challenge

Savanna’s fleet often operates across vast regions with limited or no mobile coverage. Their existing 3G-based IVMS and paper-based journey planning processes no longer provided reliable, real-time visibility of driver behaviour or journey risk.

The national 3G network shutdown created an urgent need for a telematics upgrade. At the same time, Savanna sought a solution aligned with the Safer Together IVMS standards — and one that went further by delivering deeper integration, real-time visibility, and proactive safety interventions.

Prior to using JMS, the company’s journey management process relied on a paper-based system. Submissions had the potential to be overlooked, and practices varied across the workforce. Journey approvals and travel risk were managed primarily through IVMS tracking, with limited structure around check-ins or escalation pathways.

The Solution

Savanna partnered with JMS to deploy a fully integrated safety and telematics platform, combining:

  • JMS for digital journey management and automated risk escalation
  • Roadwatch for AI-enabled video telematics and fatigue alerts
  • Geotab IVMS for GPS tracking, driver ID, and compliance monitoring
  • Logmaster for digital work diaries
The bundled rollout included:
  • Dual-facing dash cameras with fatigue detection and real-time alerts
  • Seat vibration units and in-cab visual displays
  • Duress buttons, Iridium satellite connectivity, and NFC keyfob ID
  • Remote installation, fast onboarding, and SaaS-based management

The Result

Savanna now operates a modern, paperless journey management framework across its fleet and travelling workforce. Key outcomes include:

  • Real-time oversight of drivers, even in regions without mobile coverage
  • Automated escalation workflows, ensuring rapid response to missed check-ins or unsafe driving events
  • Fatigue detection and driver coaching supported by AI-powered dash cams
  • Consolidated compliance across journey plans, IVMS, and digital work diaries
  • Operational efficiency, with reduced manual processes and simplified vendor management

By unifying JMS, Roadwatch, Geotab, and Logmaster under one platform, Savanna has streamlined operations while raising the bar on safety, environmental, and corporate governance standards.

“With JMS and Roadwatch in place, we now have complete visibility over our remote fleet and workforce. The escalation workflows have already proven their worth in critical situations. It’s a game changer for safety in our operations.”
